I love Christmas time. The music, the decorations, the traditions, the movies, the lights, the special memories we make with our family and friends – I genuinely love it all. But one of the things I love the most is getting to hear the beautiful story of the first Christmas over and over again throughout the season. It’s more than a story…it’s THE story. The one that changed everything for those who put their hope and trust in the Lord.
This evening we went to our Christmas Eve service (yes, even though it’s Christmas Eve Eve). They called all the children to the front to sit and hear the story of Jesus’ birth. Seeing all of those sweet little angels up there listening to the Christmas story brought tears to my eyes. It struck me in that moment that all these years later I’m still filled with awestruck wonder every time I hear it.
Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. -Psalm 40:5
